Rotary International is the largest worldwide service organization.  It is made up of 1.4 million members of 44,000 independent clubs. Enclosed/attached are fact sheets about Rotary.  Extensive information is available on the web site www.rotary.org.  Rotary’s concentration is outlined by the Five Avenues of Service – International Service, Club Service, Community Service, New Generation Services, and Vocational Service.

 

Our Club, Rotary Club of West Ventura County is made up of members from throughout Ventura County.  The Club was formed in July of 2025 when the Rotary Clubs of Oxnard and Ventura South merged into our new West Ventura Club.  The Oxnard Club was originally charted on chartered October 26, 1920 and the Ventura South club was founded on April 28, 1983. The members represent a wide breadth of the community who have joined our club because of our reputation for fun, fellowship, and service.  We currently meet on Tuesdays at noon at the Oxnard Holiday Inn (formerly Courtyard).  We get together about 3 times per month including some great evening social events where our family of Rotary excels!  A Board of Directors led by a President conduct the affairs of the Club.

We support many other service groups and charities throughout our community and world-wide.  Locally, we support Boy’s & Girls Clubs, the Salvation Army, the Turning Point Foundation, Adult Literacy, and many others.  We sponsor and support a youth basketball event annually and have done so for nearly a century!  Internationally, we have provided support for projects on five continents.  Our club members participate in fundraising activities with both financial support and hands on work.  Our club also maintains its own Foundation for charitable financial support of worthy charities and causes.

 

In order to support our worthy endeavors, there are financial obligations.  We have suspended initiation fees so your only obligation is the quarterly billing.  This should be paid prior to your initiation.  Enclosed is a sample member quarterly invoice.  The invoice includes dues and donations for Rotary International, our District, our Club Dues and charitable donations such as Paul Harris Foundation and our Club’s Foundation, club meeting meals and some off-site events. The only required functions are our annual Holiday and Step Down dinners.  Unless the Board decides otherwise, there are no other required expenses.  You will be offered opportunities throughout the year to contribute to various projects.  Good news can be celebrated and announced at our meetings for a donation of your choice.  Your financial participation in these activities is optional.

 

There is no meeting attendance requirement for our Club.  However, the purpose of our Club is to serve.  (Service Above Self is our motto). Joining a Rotary Club is your opportunity to serve.  West Ventura County Rotary offers many varied opportunities throughout the year to do so.  You can participate financially, by joining in on a work project and by participating in managing Club services as an officer, director or committee member.

 

Individual Membership – 1 person

Corporate Membership – Up to 3 members of one organization

Premier Membership – 1 person to be paid semi annually, with special recognition on our website and collateral materials.

Honorary Membership – Awarded by the Club to deserving member of the community or has significantly contributed to our Club in past years.

 

Membership is by invitation.  Your sponsor will present you for membership.  There is club membership application you can access from the Home page of the web site. There is a “Join” label on the web site banner next to the “Home” label. Home Page Web site: wvcrotary.org

Once approved by the Board of Directors, your invitation will be presented.  Once you have accepted the invitation and paid your initiation fee, a formal induction ceremony will be scheduled.
